Bekki Oliver - Body idols Bikini category
Hi, I'm Bekki! I started weight training in January 2016 (I know I was one of those 1st of January people!) and have been training consistently at Progress Gym in Yeovil ever since.
My first competition was at BodyPower in 2018 where I placed 3rd out of 20 in ultimate female model and 5th out of 20 in bikini beginner with UK Ultimate Physiques and then competed the next day with the BodyPower Model Search where I placed Top 10 out of 50 girls!
So definitely threw myself in the deep end with my first ever competitions!
But it made me fall utterly in love with the sport, and not just the stage show at the end.
The prep is something I find is the most rewarding part of the whole process.
There's no feeling like refusing to give up when you think you have nothing left. That moment where you say to yourself
"I don't think I can do this"
and you take a deep breath, shake off the doubt and smash it out of the park anyway.
The best part is that all the willpower, the determination, the drive, it all stays with you for the rest of your life, regardless of your placing at the end, and I use that all the time to help push me through my bad days and do things I never thought I would have the confidence or strength to before.
I compete because it has made me more mentally strong than I've ever been in my life. I compete because it's pushed me above and beyond the limits I had put on my own life.
I compete because I absolutely bloody love it.
